JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Over a foot of rain has fallen in August and the month isn’t over yet.
Copious amounts of rainfall are adding up and stopping up our creeks, streets, and sewers making August 2024 one of the wettest in recorded history.

On Monday, the National Weather Service reported that August is on track to be the seventh wettest month on record. For those keeping track, records began in 1871.
Additionally, this is the most rainfall we’ve seen at the Jacksonville International Airport since Tropical Storm Fay in 2008.
Even specific areas of our region are seeing an increase in rainfall.
On Sunday, Aug. 25, Craig Municipal Airport broke the daily record rainfall of 1.55 inches previously set in 2002 by almost 2″ for a total of 3.22 inches between midnight and 9 a.m.
With more rain in the forecast this week, August rainfall totals will continue to climb up the Top 10 charts before the Labor Day weekend marks the “unofficial” end of summer.
