JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Friday will be another hot, humid day with little rain to slow the start of your holiday weekend. Partly cloudy skies throughout the day will follow some patchy fog in the morning, mostly west of I-95. Temperatures will bottom out in the mid-70s overnight, a bit warmer along the coast. Expect Friday highs in the upper 80s along the coast, low 90s inland with a heat index close to 108.
Thursday’s National Hurricane Center (NHC) outlook shows a 50% chance of a Central Atlantic disturbance developing into a tropical cyclone in the next seven days. The wave is moving WNW at 10-15 mph towards the Lesser Antilles. A second wave emerged off the coast of Africa late Thursday evening, also move WNW over the Eastern Atlantic. Formation change through the next 48 is 0%.
The dry weather will change on Sunday afternoon with scattered storms returning along with the heat of the day and sea breeze convergence before an approaching cold front. Labor Day will see more stormy weather into Tuesday. The cold front will take the above-average temperatures and turn them down a few degrees as the chances of rain increase on Tuesday and Wednesday.
