Two tropical systems in the Atlantic have a small chance of developing over the next week

Locally, highs on Thursday are in the 90s, and “feels like temperatures” are in the triple digits across our area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A tropical wave News4JAX has been tracking has the potential to become a tropical depression by next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The system has a 10% chance of formation over the next 48 hours and a 50% chance of formation over the next 7 days in the Atlantic Ocean. Showers and thunderstorms associated with the system remain disorganized. The gradual development of the system is possible during the next few days, and a tropical depression could form sometime next week while it moves westward, reaching the Lesser Antilles on Monday and continuing across the Caribbean Sea through the middle to the latter part of the week.

Another potential system behind it has a 20% chance of development over the next 7 days. The tropical wave between the west coast of Africa and the Cabo Verde Islands is producing minimal shower and thunderstorm activity. Some slow development of this system is possible through late next week while it moves slowly to the west-northwest over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.

Locally, highs on Thursday are in the 90s, and “feels like temperatures” are in the triple digits across our area.

Rain chances are very light, so keep the umbrella handy, but you might not need it.
