Flooding Risks Increase as Rain Continues

More rain on the way

. (.)

Areas of rain as the risk of local flooding continues.

A Flood Advisory continues for southern Putnam through 10:30 pm and a Flood Advisory continues for Duval, Nassau, Baker and Bradford counties through 11:45 pm. A New Flood Advisory is now in effect for Duval and northern St. Johns counties through 12:15 am.

Tonight: Showers with storms, heavy at times. The issue is the wet ground. Flooding will be possible as soil has turned into mud and will have a tough time absorbing more rain. As rounds of rain continue to stream onshore, the risk of local flooding will continue tonight and Thursday.

Thursday: The front will remain stalled across the area through the end of the week. Ample moisture will lead to numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms. The main hazards will be heavy rainfall and flooding. A Flood Watch may be necessary. The northeasterly winds will move showers onshore and with daytime heating coverage will expand inland through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will remain below normal due to cloud cover and showers. Morning lows in the 70s. Afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s for SE GA, with mid to upper 80s for NE FL. Wind NE 5-15 mph.

Tropics: Watching FOUR areas of potential development.

Looking ahead: Rounds of rain will continue through the week along the stalled front.

Sunrise: 7:05 a.m.

Sunset: 7:45 p.m.
