JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The latest update from the National Hurricane Center upgraded Invest-AL91 to a 90% chance of formation over the next 48 hours, and a 90% chance over the next seven days.
The system is currently in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico moving slowly to the northwest. The conditions are ripe for development over the next few days. The next named tropical cyclone will be Francine.
Models show this system hugging the Northern Mexico and Southern Texas border before turning slightly to the east with its eye on the Texas/Louisiana line.
The NHC said an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter flight is currently en route to investigate this system.
