Flood Watch for St. Johns, coastal Duval extended until Wednesday morning as more rain hits the area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – While we’re still tracking a front that’s stalled over the area for much of this week, know that Francine will pull the moisture north, drying us out a bit as this weekend approaches.

Up until that point, we are still looking for rain to move through over the next few days due to that stalled front, and so more flooding is likely to occur.

Areas like San Marco are dealing with closed roads due to flooding and with more rain moving in, it could take time for that water to receed.

Jacksonville has had huge amounts of rain over the last few weeks, leaving the ground incredibly saturated, and so as we see more rainfall, it has nowhere to go, resulting in flooding in low-lying areas.

The drainage systems are overwhelmed across parts of our area, making flooding more prominent.

Rain is expected to roll in again Tuesday afternoon.

A Flood Watch has been issued for Flagler and St. Johns counties as well as coastal areas until Wednesday morning.
