Heat and sunshine today

Thursday will be the day for Hurricane Helene impacts

.

JACKSONVILLE. Fl – The disturbance in the Caribbean is a long way away from us over the Cayman Islands. We will not have any impacts from it until Thursday morning. Until then look for a dry day with mostly sunny skies and warm highs in the 90s inland. The beaches reach the mid-80s.

Tonight stays mostly clear before clouds increase on Wednesday. Any showers will likely focus over southern counties tomorrow. The easterly breezes keep us fairly dry on Wednesday.

Rain starts early Thursday but it will be moderate with breezy 20-30 mph winds. A mid day lull in lighter rain activity will give way to heavier evening rain. The flood potential grows into the night with winds increasing as gusts pick up to 40-60 mph.

Just light shows Friday morning as dry air moves in with SW winds 25 mph through the day.

Light winds over the weekend with scattered showers and highs in the upper 60s.
