Saturday evening temperatures will drop into the mid-70s with mostly cloudy skies, and winds from the northeast between 5 and 10 miles per hour. Rain is highly likely for Southeast Georgia and Northeast Florida. Rain accumulations range from three-tenths of an inch for Northeast Florida and a quarter of an inch for Southeast Georgia. Overall it will be up to 2 inches along the coast for the next 3 days and a tenth of an inch for inland counties in Columbia and Alachua counties.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

Tropical Storm Milton will likely intensify quickly as it moves eastbound through the Gulf of Mexico. It will impact the Gulf Coast of Florida bringing storm surge and strong winds that could be life-threatening. The current cone of uncertainty shows Milton as a category 3 hurricane, making landfall Wednesday afternoon. Though the exact track will change Florida residents should begin preparing for the storm now. Flash flood risks are currently between 5% and 15% for SE GA and NE FL. Tropical storm force winds are currently at a 20% to 50% probability for our area.

Far Eastern Tropical Atlantic: A tropical wave is expected to move off the west coast of Africa on Monday or Tuesday. Some development of this system is possible thereafter while it moves westward or west-northwestward across the eastern tropical Atlantic.
