Imagine standing at the edge of the shoreline and the water approaches. It’s calm and enticing for you to walk further in. Before you realize it, you’re being pulled deeper into the water and you panic. You realize the current is too strong for you to break free and your life flashes before your eyes. You may or may not survive the rip current.

As quickly as you read this scenario is how quickly a rip current can pull you in; within seconds. Multiple lives were threatened Sunday afternoon due to dangerous rip currents.

However, this is a horrible story that we have told many times before.

A teen boy fled to America from Ukraine. He was starting a new life when he went to the beach. That same day he saw children in distress and helped them. However, he didn’t survive the ocean’s strength.

It pains everyone to hear of a life loss under any circumstance. However, it’s even worse when it’s possible something could’ve been done to prevent it.

For that reason, dear viewers and readers, please stay out of the ocean when there is a dangerous rip current risk and enjoy the view from the sand.
