Here’s a detailed look at the weather forecast for both Saturday and Sunday, focusing on conditions for those on base and boaters on the water.
Saturday: Breezy with a chance of light showers
Saturday’s show is set to begin at 11 a.m., with the Blue Angels scheduled to perform in the early afternoon. The weather will bring a mix of partly to mostly cloudy skies, which will help keep temperatures mild, ranging from the mid-70s to the low 80s.
While the day will be breezy, those on base and along the river should be aware of the possibility of brief, light showers in the afternoon. These showers may blow through quickly due to the steady southeast winds, which are expected to pick up later in the day. The showers are most likely to occur between 2 and 4 p.m., so having a light rain jacket or umbrella could come in handy but they won’t last long.
For boaters, the breeze will rock the boat and a better mooring will be to watch from the south side of the base in the lee of the Northeast to east winds.
Sunday: Similar Conditions
Sunday’s weather forecast is quite similar to Saturday’s. The air show will once again start at 11 a.m., and like the day before, spectators should expect partly to mostly cloudy skies. While the chance of rain is low, there is still the possibility of a brief, light shower during the afternoon, particularly between 1 and 3 p.m.
The breeze from the southeast will remain steady on Sunday, contributing to mild, comfortable conditions with temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s. On the river, boaters should experience slightly breezy conditions, though they won’t be significantly different from Saturday.
Enjoy the Show and Stay Prepared
The gates open at 9 a.m. and the show will begin at 11 a.m. The grand finale will be the Navy’s flight demonstration team, The Blue Angels, who will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The show is completely free. Spectators should bring their ID with them to get on base.
