JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In the Western Caribbean Sea, Invest AL95 grew in strength as it got closer to Central America on Friday. The cluster of widespread showers and thunderstorms became more organized and was named Tropical Cyclone 15 on Friday evening. If it were to become the next tropical depression, which there is a 70% chance, it would be named Nadine and would likely be short-lived.
In the Atlantic, the area of low pressure that‘s being monitored closely by the National Hurricane Center is weakening as widespread showers and thunderstorms extend a couple hundred miles north of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Development, if any, is slow to occur and further development isn’t expected due to strong upper-level winds by early next week.
Neither storm will affect our local weather through the weekend.
We’ll be mostly dry under cloudy and windy conditions with a 20% chance of rain. High rip current risk continues along our area beaches through late Sunday night.
