Summer’s Encore as Jacksonville flirts with record October heat

Warm mid 80s into the weekend

Above normal temperatures cover inland areas today in the mid-80s. Highs stay in the 80s until a front passes by Sunday night.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Jacksonville is in for a toasty weekend, with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 80s—a bit warmer than what you’d expect this time of year.

The average high in late October usually hovers around 79°F, so we’re definitely getting some extra warmth. In fact, Jacksonville is flirting with record highs, with a forecasted high of 86°F today.

The record for October 24th, set way back in 1927, is 87°F, so we might come close to tying that!

It’s not just Jacksonville that could break some records. Craig Airfield and Alma, GA, are also eyeing potential record highs of 87°F. With a sea breeze keeping things a little cooler near the coast (around 80°F), most inland areas will still feel like it’s a sunny September day, well above the usual October temperatures.

Here’s a snapshot of some record highs for the next few days:

Expect more sunshine and warm temperatures through Sunday, with highs in the mid-80s inland. But relief is on the way! A strong cold front will sweep through late Sunday, dropping temperatures back into the low to mid-70s next week—perfect for some classic fall weather.
