System in Southwestern Caribbean Sea continues to show tropical development

NHC PM Update

The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor the low-pressure system in the Southwestern Caribbean Sea. This area is likely to develop around the middle of next week as it begins to drift northward or northeastward over the Southeastern and South-central Caribbean Sea.

Formation over the next 7 days is 40%. At this time, models show movement away from the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.

The next named tropical cyclone in the 2024 season is Patty. Hurricane season officially ends in just over 30 days on Nov. 30.
