Spotlight on possible tropical development in Southwestern Caribbean Sea

Saturday PM Tropics Outlook

The National Hurricane Center issued the first outlook on a low-pressure system brewing in the Southwestern Caribbean Sea Saturday night. This area is likely to develop around the middle of next week as it drifts northeastward.

Formation over the next 2-7 days is 20%. At this time, models show movement away from the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.

The next named tropical cyclone in the 2024 season is Patty. Hurricane season officially ends in just over 30 days on Nov. 30.
