Tropical development possible in the Caribbean as we near the last month of hurricane season

Increasing chances of development

. (.)

The spot that we have been watching in the Caribbean is showing signs of potential development.

A broad area of low pressure is likely to develop over the southwestern Caribbean Sea in a few days.

Gradual development is possible and a tropical depression could form late this week or over the weekend while the system drifts northward or northeastward toward the central Caribbean Sea.

The formation chance through 48 hours is 0 percent and the formation chance through seven days is up to 40 percent.
