SUNDAY NIGHT

A breezy day is ending with the sun setting before 6 p.m. Temperatures will drop into the upper 60s, with winds from the northeast between 5-to-10 mph. Clouds will be partly cloudy with low rain chances into the early morning hours of Monday. Rain accumulation will be less than a quarter of an inch.

MONDAY’S FORECAST

Monday morning temperatures will begin in the upper 60s and low 70s with winds coming from the east, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures peaking into the low 80s. Winds will be breezy at the same time temperatures peak. Looking ahead to the midpoint of the work week, rain chances will increase to 50-60% due to instability in the atmosphere as the storms get closer to the Gulf states.

TRACKING THE TROPICS

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Subtropical Storm Patty, located over the northeastern Atlantic Ocean just east of the Azores Islands.

AL97 is located in the Western Caribbean Sea. There is activity of rain and thunderstorms. One model suggests that the system will become a tropical depression within the next couple of days, moving toward Jamaica and then over the western portion of Cuba.

By mid-week, the system moves into the eastern portion of the Gulf near Florida before shifting west near Louisiana and Mississippi and then making landfall. This is the hypothetical outcome for one of many models. An Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft is analyzing the system. Formation chance through 48 hours is 90%. Formation chance through 7 days is 90%.

A low-pressure trough is near the Southeastern Bahamas. The storms and thunderstorms will bring gusty winds to the area. The system will likely move toward Cuba and the Bahamas. The system may be absorbed by “AL97″. Rain will occur in the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas. Formation chance through 48 hours is 10%. Formation chance through 7 days is 10%.

Within the Southwestern Atlantic, there is a disturbance that will develop near the northern Leeward Islands around the middle of the week. Formation chance through 48 hours is 0%. Formation chance through 7 days is 20%.
