Rafael spins across Gulf of Mexico

Some wind, rain expected locally

Increasing rain and wind as Rafael moves across the Gulf of Mexico. Partly cloudy skies are expected on Tuesday night with a slight chance of a shower or two.

Wednesday will be another warm one with an increasing onshore flow and rounds of rain with the heaviest amounts near and along I-75.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with showers possible. Patchy to areas of dense fog overnight.

Wednesday: Increasing wind and rain chances through the day with stronger gusts and higher rainfall totals closer to I-75 and the Gulf Coast. Above-normal temperatures continue with widespread rain chances of 50-80 percent. Morning lows in the upper 60s and 70s. Afternoon highs in the 80s. Wind SE 10-20 mph with stronger gusts.

Rain from Rafael: 0.50 - 1.0 inch Highway 301 to the beaches. 1.0 - 2.0 inches Highway 301 to the Gulf Coast with some areas receiving up to 4 inches.

Wind: Breezy conditions are expected across the area with wind gusts less than Tropical Storm force (39 mph). Average wind gusts are 20-30 mph.

Coastal Flood Advisories are in effect through early Wednesday morning. These are likely to be extended due to the increasing onshore wind and the flooding that continues along the St. Johns River.
