We do have some rain moving through the Forecast this morning, as showers make their way inland off the Atlantic Coast.
That is not the primary rainmaker over the next 2 days, but certainly is soaking certain spots.
Hurricane Raphael will be responsible for the rain we see today into tomorrow, but totals have decreased immensely due to an area of High Pressure over Florida acting as a “blocker” and pushing this Hurricane to the NW, further away from our west coast, which bodes well for us.
In case you were curious there are 3 factors contributing to the potential weakening of this storm- increasing vertical shear, drier air, and cooler water temps in the Gulf
Rain from Raphael will be a big issue for South FL, and an issue for us as well.
Overall, areas like Waycross, Homerville, and Valdosta will see the highest totals, while Jacksonville Proper and areas east will see much less, if any rain at all.
