JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As the first day of Winter winds down, the temperatures will continue to drop. A chilly night in the mid-40s will feel like the mid-30s as the north wind continues.
A Freeze Warning is in effect beginning at 3 a.m. Sunday morning for our Southeast Georgia counties, as well as Baker, Union and Columbia counties in our Northeast Florida region. The Warning is expected to expire at 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees are expected during those prime hours, along with light winds, and clear skies.
During the same hours (3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday morning), a Frost Advisory is also expected for Inland Nassau, Bradford, Eastern Alachua, Western Clay, Western Alachua, Western Duval, Coastal Glynn, and Coastal Camden. Temperatures as low as 32 degrees are expected which will result in frost formation. Frost can harm tender plants and vegetation if left outside and uncovered. Outside pets should also be cared for.

By Monday, scattered showers and warm temperatures will return to the area. By Christmas day, above-normal warmth will precede shower activity.
