Cooler, drier weather sets up perfect conditions for 2025 Gate River Run

And maybe a personal best?

Low humidity and cool sunny skies will greet runners at Saturday's Gate River Run.

JACKSONVILLE, FLA – Jacksonville’s premier road race over the bridges is shaping up to be a runner’s dream this Saturday. Unlike last year’s Gate River Run, which saw warmer temperatures in the mid-60s, this year’s race will start on a crisp and refreshing note.

At the 8:00 AM starting gun, expect cool conditions in the upper 40s, gradually warming to the upper 50s by 10 AM—ideal for setting a personal best. Skies will be clear, humidity will be low, and with no fog or breeze in the mix, there’s nothing to slow down the field of thousands racing across the Hart Bridge.

And speaking of speed, with this cooler weather, you just might have a shot at beating last year’s first-place finisher, Teshome Mekonen, who blazed through the 9.3 miles in a casual 42 minutes and 50 seconds. Sure, he’s an elite runner, but with these ideal conditions, who’s to say you couldn’t suddenly unlock your hidden Olympic potential? No pressure—just remember, if you want to match Mekonen’s pace, you’ll need to average about 4 minutes and 36 seconds per mile. Easy, right?

By afternoon, temperatures will climb to a pleasant 73°F, perfect for celebrating post-race victories (or just surviving).
