Severe weather forecast for Southeast Georgia, Northeast Florida as a strong cold front passes through

Gusts could reach 50+ mph

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sunday is a Weather Authority Impact Day beginning with the morning show at 7 a.m.

The squall line is moving quickly through the panhandle east at 45 mph. We can expect the first rounds of rain to reach Southeast Georgia by sunrise Sunday morning before moving into Northeast Florida after noon. The storm will continue to move quickly, keeping flooding and accumulated rainfall totals minimal. However, heavy downpours, gusty winds up to 50+ mph, hail, and a low chance of an isolated tornado threat remain the main concerns. The system will move offshore by sunset.

Cooler air will sink in overnight into St. Patrick’s Day with highs staying in the upper 60s, low 70s.
