Dry heat across the region gives way to overnight showers for some

Showers and thunderstorms are possible late tonight, early Thursday morning for inland southeast Georgia, as models have the storms skirting our area and aiming for the Panhandle after midnight.

Thursday will be another hot and humid afternoon, but our afternoon highs will be closer to seasonal averages versus record highs. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible with the highest chances along our southern zones and across inland SE GA.

The coverage of showers and thunderstorms will swing our way starting Friday and continuing through the weekend.

Evening: Warm and humid. Patchy fog.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., 30 - 60 percent. Lows in the 70s. Afternoon highs in the 90s inland, upper 80s to low 90s along the beaches. Winds SW/SE 5-10 mph.

Friday - Weekend: The heat continues with an increasing chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Tropics: No tropical activity expected for the next 7 days.
