Trump expands disaster declaration to include Jacksonville

Also includes individual assistance for Clay, Duval, Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – President Donald Trump’s administration on Monday night expanded his major disaster declaration for Florida to include individual assistance for Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Palm Beach, Putnam and St. Johns counties, Gov. Rick Scott's press office said. 

Sunday, just hours after Scott’s request, Trump approved the major disaster declaration for Florida authorizing federal funding to flow directly to Floridians impacted by Hurricane Irma and reimburse local communities and the state government to aid in response and recovery.

The major disaster declaration approved by Trump authorizes the following:

  • 100 percent federal reimbursement for 30 days in all counties for emergency protective measures, such as emergency operation center costs, evacuation costs, sheltering costs, and other costs associated with emergency response. After the 30 days, the federal government will reimburse 75 percent of these costs. This includes both local and state expenses;
  • 75 percent federal reimbursement for all counties for debris removal;
  • Direct federal financial assistance for impacted Florida families in the following counties: Broward, Charlotte, Clay, Collier, Duval, Flagler, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Putnam, Sarasota and St. Johns counties.
