Polls closed at 7 p.m. in Georgia’s primary runoff election, where voters helped decide who would appear on the November ballot in several key races — including the governor’s race, the U.S. Senate race, and the 1st Congressional District seat left vacant by Congressman Buddy Carter.

A handful of races that were not decided in the May 21 primary will be decided by southeast Georgia voters tonight.

One week before thousands of neighborhood precincts open for the primary election next Tuesday, more than twice as many Georgias have voted early than did four years ago.
