Orange Park Mall wants to turn grassy area into large venue
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. โ A potential major move for the Orange Park mall could attract large crowds outside the mall for events like outdoor movies and festivals. The mall is considering developing a venue called โThe Groveโ in the grassy area at the edge of its property. This would be separate from the events like the ones that are held in the mallโs parking lots. โWe need more places in the county where we can have large events besides the fairgrounds. โGiven the rollout of the vaccine has increased to 1.25 million vaccinations in arms a day, that looks good for trying to get a handle on this pandemic.โThe mall released the following statement to News4Jax:โWhile in the early planning stages, we are working with all stakeholders to explore opportunities for an enhanced community greenspace at Orange Park Mall.

The innovative and unique production will take place behind the Orange Park Mall Feb. 11 - Feb. 15. There will be a water curtain around the performers that draws from a 35,000-gallon-pool underneath the stage. Mother wants answers in incident involving son, Orange Park Mall security
ORANGE PARK, Fla. โ Demonstrators gathered Monday night outside the Orange Park Mall demanding answers after a video appears to show security officers restrain a young man to the ground. Meyer said her son and his friends were in the mall, making a YouTube video, when security approached them. A few of the boys said something that one of the security officers didnโt like and they grabbed them,โ Meyer said. She said that her son was taken into a room, where he was guarded by a Clay County sheriffโs deputy. The Orange Park Mall told News4Jax that the safety of their guests, retailers and employees is its top priority.
Orange Park Mall reopens after protests end
ORANGE PARK, Fla. โ The Orange Park Mall closed early Sunday afternoon as a precautionary measure when violence erupted in nearby Duval County. In a Facebook post, mall staff stated they have been working with Clay County authorities to keep shoppers, retailers and employees safe. The mall closed its doors at 3 p.m. Sunday. โWe will continue to monitor the situation and work with local authorities to determine when it is safe to open again,โ the Facebook post said. The mall will open at 11 a.m., though one of their events had to be postponed.
Orange Park Mall offering free drive-in movies

The free โCinema Under The Stars at Orange Park Mallโ movie night requires one ticket per vehicle. Guests must reserve a ticket through EventBrite and present their ticket upon arrival. Reservations for Friday nightโs movie is sold out, according to the website.
Sears at Orange Park Mall will close doors after 45 years
ORANGE PARK, Fla. โ In the latest hit to Americaโs once-booming malls, the last Sears department store in the Jacksonville area is closing. After nearly half a century in business, the Sears department store at the Orange Park Mall is closing. The Orange Park store was not originally included when Searsโ parent company announced another round of closures in November. Deputies: Man arrested after 4 children found in hot SUV
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - A 911 call made Saturday from Orange Park Mall led to the arrest of a New York man on four counts of child neglect. Saturday afternoon, Cephas Bradley, 27, of Brooklyn, was arrested after the Clay County Sheriffs Office said four young children were left in a hot sport utility vehicle. When the deputy arrived, he located four unattended children in a parked Dodge SUV with the windows up and doors unlocked, according to the report. The deputy noted in the report that the vehicle was off, and the children were "sweating and in distress." Mall security told the deputy that the children had been left in the SUV for 20 to 30 minutes prior to the deputys arrival, according to the report.
Woman with cerebral palsy turned away from Orange Park Mall nail salon
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - A post on Facebook has gone viral after a woman claims she was turned away from Nails Spa & Beyond at the Orange Park Mall due to having a disability. "So Bris new caregiver, Anna, took Bri to the Orange Park Mall and went to this nail salon to get Bris nails done. Bri McElyea has cerebral palsy, which affects a person's ability to move and maintain balance and posture. Orange Park Mall will also be providing Bri a gift card to her favorite store, Chelsea Commodari, Marketing Director of Orange Park Mall, said. Im proud of the way our Orange Park management team responded to this isolated incident.
